Under Idaho Code § 18-918(7)(d), the ICDVVA is charged with setting the standards for domestic violence counseling or treatment ordered for individuals convicted of domestic violence. These standards exist to increase victim and community safety by holding offenders accountable, supporting a coordinated community response, teaching healthy relationships, and providing ongoing program monitoring.
The Minimum Standards for Domestic Violence Offender Intervention Programs establish the requirements a program must meet to be approved by the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence & Victim Assistance (ICDVVA) and its Committee for Oversight of Domestic Violence Offender Intervention Programs and Standards (the OIP Committee).
This document outlines the intervention philosophy, curriculum and telecommunication requirements, program and provider qualifications, ethics, judicial responsibilities, and the application, renewal, monitoring, and complaint processes that approved providers must follow. Programs meeting these standards are reviewed by the OIP Committee, which holds public meetings quarterly.
